There is a large portion of the Las Vegas Raiders fan base and even the media that are super happy Antonio Pierce was brought back as the head coach. After what happened a few years ago with Rich Bisaccia, there was certainly some doubt about what direction Mark Davis would go. However, he reassured everyone that he believed in Pierce.
But it feels like Pierce may have won the job over right away when he was the interim. The Raiders are letting him show what he can do, picking up right where they left off. Pierce recently released a letter to the fans on Players Tribune, letting them know this is no ordinary job for him.
Recently, he hopped on ESPN on the Pat McAfee show to talk about that, but also how he landed the job with Mark Davis and the Raiders, considering he was only a linebackers coach.
"No," Pierce said when asked if there was any doubt he would become the full-time head coach. "I told Mark Davis that I was gonna blow his mind and that he didn't know what was going to happen. I laid it out to him. When he gave me the job, I had no plans or thoughts to let it go to anybody else... We have a cool relationship, and our communication is great."

Pierce has that confidence and swagger about him that reassures anyone who talks to him that he will get the job done. You can not know him at all, but hear him speak and know that he is the right man for the job. He is a Raider, and he lives and breathes Raiders football.
So far, it looks like the Raiders made the right decision. But, there is still football to be played on the field.
