The Los Angeles Chargers host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in Week 3 and fans of the home team are eagerly awaiting word on the status of quarterback Justin Herbert. The Pro Bowler injured his ribs during the Chargers' Week 2 loss on "Thursday Night Football" against the Kansas City Chiefs.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport provided a mostly positive update on Friday but said that his availability can't be taken for granted.
From NFL Now: #Chargers QB Justin Herbert has been throwing this week, which is good. But it's about how well he can function, not just pain tolerance, when it comes to being on the field. pic.twitter.com/oa373JwBDZ

Behind Herbert on the Los Angeles quarterbacks depth chart is veteran Chase Daniel. Herbert has gone 59-for-82 for 613 passing yards, six touchdowns, and one interception this season, while Daniel didn't play in Week 1 and took just one snap against the Chiefs.
Since taking over as the Chargers' starting signal-caller in Week 3 of the 2020 campaign, the Oregon product has started in 34 consecutive games.
